Recently, Zonergy Corporation was awarded a certificate and plaque for its role as a drafting unit of the group standard General Technical Specification for Sodium-Ion Battery Energy Storage Systems in Industrial, Commercial and Residential Applications (T/CI 1580-2026). This recognizes the Company’s active engagement in standard-setting for the sodium-ion battery industry, and reflects Zonergy’s continuous progress in sodium-ion R&D, product innovation and industrial deployment.
▲ General technical specifications for sodium-ion battery energy storage systems in industrial, commercial, and residential applications (T/CI 1580-2026)
Developed under the auspices of the Standardization Committee of China International Association for Promotion of Science and Technology, Zonergy was invited to lead the drafting, and the standard officially took effect in June 2026. The standard extends normative requirements for sodium-ion technology from the cell level to complete energy storage systems. It covers application scenarios including microgrids, PV-integrated applications, backup power supply and off-grid power supply, and sets differentiated requirements for commercial and industrial (C&I) and residential scenarios. It specifies detailed performance metrics for sodium-ion energy storage systems across different scenarios, including capacity deviation, charge-discharge efficiency, cycle life, environmental adaptability and safety protection. Corresponding test methods and inspection rules are also defined, providing a normative basis for the design, manufacturing, performance assessment, safe operation, maintenance and management of sodium-ion energy storage products.
The issuance and implementation of this standard will help advance sodium-ion battery technology from cell R&D toward system integration and end-use applications, raise the standardization level of sodium-ion energy storage products, and enable deeper integration of sodium-ion technology with commercial & industrial storage, residential storage and distributed PV-storage systems. It delivers a standard basis and normative guidance for the industrialization and large-scale adoption of sodium-ion batteries.
