Zonergy Delivering Batch of Vehicle Starting & Parking Power Supplies, Embarking on a New Journey for Sodium-ion Battery Applications

Recently, a batch of customized 24 V 50 Ah sodium-ion vehicle starting & parking power supplies manufactured by Zonergy has been successfully delivered, which demonstrates the Company’s capabilities in mass delivery, rapid customization and engineering implementation of sodium-ion vehicle starting & parking power supplies, and also verifies the practical viability and market value of sodium-ion batteries for starting & parking scenarios in commercial vehicles.

The delivered product model is the 24 V 50 Ah sodium-ion starting & parking power supply, which is mainly applied to the starting & parking systems of public transit buses. Based on its existing product portfolio, Zonergy carries out customized development focusing on three core performance indicators in response to customer requirements: First, high-rate pulse discharge capability. The delivered products support continuous discharge at 100 A, second-level discharge at 500 A, and millisecond-level discharge at 1,000 A, to satisfy the transient high-power demand for starting & parking of large vehicles; second, wide temperature adaptability. The products support charge at a low temperature of -20°C and deliver high-rate discharge at an ambient temperature of -40°C, to be suitable for operation in frigid and complex regional environments; third, long service life. It is designed for “stable operation over 8 years”, to help customers cut the total life-cycle operating costs of whole vehicles.

Dr. Jing Peng, Project Principal of Sodium-ion Battery Research Institute at Zonergy, discloses that the whole process covering customer communication, product customization, performance testing and other procedures took around one month from order receipt to successful delivery. Faced with tight delivery deadlines and stringent technical requirements, the team responds rapidly and advances the project efficiently. First, a special technical meeting is held to review each key performance indicator item by item with the customer, breaking down customer demands into actionable engineering technical specifications. The team then swiftly launches system design and technical verification, and completes product customization, production and testing within two weeks, with all key indicators passing verification. Finally, it conducts mass production and delivery.

The delivery of this batch of starting & parking power supplies marks not only the launch of a new product, but also a journey of joint exploration and collaborative innovation with the customer. Market demands have inspired the team to optimize product designs, while the company’s technological innovations consistently generate new application value for customers. Dr. Jing Peng states, “Based on real application scenarios, the customer put forward requirements including high-power cold cranking, low-temperature parking and coordinated communication with the whole vehicle, which provide important directions for subsequent product iteration.” At present, both parties have launched the next-phase joint development project, laying a solid foundation for product function upgrading and large-scale promotion.
